In real life, fusion is the merging of two lighter atoms to form a heavier
one. The most common form of fusion occurs inside the Sun, with hydrogen
fusing to form helium. The actual game has nothing to do with any of this.
Fusion is a game of falling multicolor bricks. Connect blocks of the same
color to make them disappear. Critical mass is level plus two. So on level
one, you need three blocks to make them disappear. On level two, you need
four. On level nine you need eleven blocks. Big piles are worth more points
than several smaller piles. Connections may be horizontal, vertical or
diagonal.
On level two and above a special chain reaction rule is in effect. The energy
created by a fusion reaction lowers the threshold for any blocks remaining.
For example, on level three when you fuse a pile of five blocks, all piles
of four also fuse. If a pile of four goes, the program checks for piles of
three. Piles of two are never set off.
Demo mode is activated if you don't choose a level and speed within 45
seconds. Blocks appear in all columns during the demo; in a real game
blocks always come in on column four.
You may use the 4, 5, 6 keys or the left arrow, up arrow and right arrow
as alternatives to j, k, l. Joysticks and mice are not supported (sorry).
Fusion is written in Borland's Turbo Pascal and was completed in April 1990.
